Cannery Contest "39 years of Memories"

Since opening night, August 14, 1971, The Cannery has been a perfect venue to share special moments with family and friends and background for countless pictures, freezing those great moments of life forever in time.

Whether you celebrated a very special birthday, an anniversary, a first date, a graduation… or the business deal of the century, we invite you to share your stories with us.

Simply send us a picture with a caption or your special stories for a chance to win great prizes.

Prizes

The three finalists** with the most votes will receive two complimentary tickets each to attend The Cannery VIP closing reception, where the grand winner will be announced.

Pictures will be displayed on our Walkway wall for all guests to enjoy. January diners will have a chance to cast their votes for their favourite entries.

The grand winner will be awarded a Cannery cellar gem:

Rules:

Entries may not be longer than 300 words.  This memorable story must be a personal experience and memorable moment.  Stories must include the date or general time (ie:  Summer of 1979) relative to your story. 

Your picture must be your property, capturing your celebration. The interior of The Cannery, artifacts or outdoors must be recognizable in the pictures (see example above – from 1971!).  Picture must include a short caption with your special occasion and the date or general time when it was shot.

Be sure to include your full name, e-mail address and daytime telephone number.

Submit your story by:

• E-mail at contest@canneryseafood.com indicating “Cannery Contest” in the subject line

• Fax, with a fax cover sheet indicating “Cannery Contest”, at 604-254-1820

• Mail, addressed to: 2205 Commissioner Street, Vancouver, B.C., V5L 1A4 - indicating “Cannery Contest” on the envelope.

Submit your photos by:

• Scanning and sending electronically in a jpeg format to contest@canneryseafood.com indicating “Cannery Contest” in the subject line or,

• Sending a copy of your original picture printed on photo paper by mail, addressed to: 2205 Commissioner Street, Vancouver, B.C., V5L 1A4 indicating: “Cannery contest” on the envelope.

The best stories and picture will be selected and voted on by Cannery staff and management on February 21st. The winning picture and the 3 finalists for the memorable stories entries will be notified by phone or e-mail. **The finalists must be able to attend the VIP reception on March 4th, 2010 to be eligible to win the grand prize.

General contest rules

The contests are open to all patrons, past or present.  Entrants must be residents of British Columbia and be 19 years or older.  Contests are not open to Cannery staff or their immediate families.  One entry per person, per contest, will be accepted.

All contests begin November 1st, 2009 and all entries must be received by February 20th, 2010.  The Cannery is not responsible for late, lost, stolen, incomplete, illegible or misdirected mail or submissions. All entries become the property of The Cannery. All stories or pictures submitted will not be returned.  Entry in the contest constitutes permission to use the submitted stories and identities of all participants.  The best stories and pictures may be submitted and printed in any or all media.

Prizes are not redeemable in cash and must be accepted as awarded.
